Mina Kim Realty & Interiors recently designed the Soma condo located in Chelsea, NYC. The luxury staging of the space offers a serene environment integrating urban life into the private living space. The condo is filled with timeless new 2018 design collections including original art gallery pieces hand selected by Water Fall Mansion Gallery art curator.

“I want to create simple yet impactful designs so that when buyers walk into the condo, they can imagine themselves living in it.” Mina’s trademark aesthetic designs are marked by minimalism and functionality.

Main Living Room

The main living room space features Scandinavian furniture pieces, reflecting a neutral black and white design scheme with a dark blue accent. “Mina Kim Realty & Interiors has made a collection of inspirational design objects for the space to express a modern family’s personality while maintaining functionality in line with Danish design traditions, creating a timeless design.” The beautiful black lounge chair is crafted from oak veneer set on a powder coated metal base. Its low design features a generous oval base and a gently undulating backrest that wraps around the body for maximum sitting comfort. An accent side table from Berlin complements the simple and timeless design.

Elegantly accentuating the modern composition of the Soma condo is a black marble honed finish granite fireplace. The matte finish of the honed marble provides a more scratch resistant exterior. Juxtaposed above in a simple thin black frame is a historical print made modern with a black acrylic strike reflecting the modern, eclectic design style.

Dining Room

Complementing the living room space, the dining room area displays a simple black and grey palette of furniture and subtle art. The dining table, designed by Le Corbusier in 1928, is a trademark piece with a mathematically refined structure of steel and glass that has become one of the most important international table styles of the 20thcentury. Danish designer Arne Jacobsen’s Drop Chair encloses the ends of the table with a matching fun shaped black circle floor lamp. The black and walnut circle floor lamp is interlaced with a wire mesh normally used in construction, providing a soft, gentle glow for the light to shine through. To complete the look in the space is an acrylic and mixed media art piece by David Chang, using chopstick on watercolor paper. The subtle color of the abstract painting ties together the tastefully contemporary feel of the room.

Master Bedroom

A soft, sophisticated color palette with glamorous details completes the master bedroom look. Kim describes, “I was going for a luxurious and clean look, but not too plain. The taupe adds a luxurious yet cozy atmosphere.” The subtle details in the room reflect this sophisticated yet cozy look. The rounded lines create a simple and natural form, inviting a more organic expression in the home. The tall ribbed headboard features neutral shades of grey, beige, taupe, and ivory to complement any décor. The ribbed surface, the latest trend in interior design, creates a vibration pattern with a retro charm and adds a strong sense of movement of the design. Meanwhile the white and taupe bedding creates a crisp yet luxurious feel to the room.

The unique shaped mirror, a statement piece on its own, is enclosed in a hammered, gold-finished iron frame and black chiseled marble crown. Right below it is a curved, contemporary armchair welcoming you to take a seat. The black steel bars create a chic accent to the front of the chair. Together these two pieces add a lively touch to an otherwise unnoticed corner of the room.

Guest Bedroom

A painting of New York City’s most popular dog breed, the French bulldog, playfully invites visitors into the guest room space. The chic and welcoming room provides a serene space for guests to rest their heads with its tranquil pastel pinks and aqua blues. The built-in cabinets provide extra storage, keeping the space minimal and clean.

Hall

A stylish coat rack and mounted wall table create a simple yet captivating silhouette in the hallway that artfully balances functionality and aesthetics. The geometric look adds to the sculptural essence of the rack and towel, creating a powerful statement in the hallway. Adding some personality to the open space is a hand painted wooden Karl doll by Scandinavian designed Lucie Kaas.
